Position Summary / Objective

The primary role of Medical Science Manager is to develop relationships and maintain contacts with Thought Leaders and Health Care Professional primarily within assigned geography. The purpose of the interactions is to engage in meaningful scientific exchange that will ensure patients have access to company’s medicines, to ensure their safe and appropriate use through peer to peer discussions aligned with medical strategies and needs expressed by external stakeholders, and to facilitate research.

Position Responsibilities

• Health Care Professional (HCP) Interaction

a) Develop and maintain in depth and long-term peer-to-peer scientific relationships with external Thought Leaders based on their expressed needs to further understand and gain both insight and/or input into treatment patterns and share the insights internally as appropriate

b) Propose or conduct medical programs to deliver scientific information and present approved scientific data to HCPs

c) Involve in developing scientific presentations (e.g., abstracts or articles based on secondary data) under the guidance of the DAH/DAS/MSM Manager which presentation should be reviewed according to the appropriate internal review processes to ensure medical accuracy and ethical and legal compliance

d) Provide appropriate response and document the provision of accurate, approved scientific data in response to unsolicited scientific questions or requests posed by HCPs for disease area related products

• Collaboration with internal stakeholders

a) Provide medical support for promotional activities with presentation of scientific information, answering participants' questions within disease area or product-related information in a balanced manner

b) Liaise with the Medical Information team to provide ongoing scientific and medical support to the business, in particular by responding to queries

c) Work with appropriate BMS personnel to help ensure that all the information regarding SAEs in the field is collected to facilitate a correct and transparent communication of SAEs internally and to the competent Health Authorities

d) Collaborate internally (with clinical operations team, DAS, etc.) to support clinical trial / study in compliance with related directives

e) Prepare and/or contribute as appropriate to the initial and ongoing Medical / scientific disease area and product-specific training of internal BMS customers (sales force, etc.) – in collaboration with the training department, if any

• Contributor to Brand Plans & Strategies

a) Contribute to the development of brand plans and strategies by communicating medical insights and knowledge derived from HCPs or scientific publications about the product or disease area, in particular with reference to patient needs and treatment trends

• Compliance

a) Perform all of the above in an ethical and legally compliant manner

b) Follow company Policy and Procedure, country specific “Code of Conduct”, as well as required local authority requirement

Key Competency Requirements

• Master in Medicines or above

• Research or work experience in the field of immunization

• Working experience in clinical practice or Pharmaceutical R&D, related specialty practice or medical affairs experience desired.
