Job Title: Research Associate - Animal Health Sub-Saharan Africa

Location: Sub-Saharan Africa

Department: Animal Health

Job Summary: The Research Associate - Animal Health SSA will support the research team in conducting studies related to animal health and welfare. This role involves designing, managing, and executing research projects, collecting, and analysing data, and contributing to the development of new treatments and interventions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary science, animal health, or a related field, and possess excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement research protocols to evaluate animal health and welfare.
  • Conduct physical examinations and monitor animal behaviour and health.
  • Collect and analyse data and samples, including blood, tissue, and urine.
  • Develop and manage research projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, animal owners, and other stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of animals.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in veterinary medicine and animal health.
  • Prepare and present research findings to colleagues, stakeholders, and at scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to grant writing and other funding opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of research activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in veterinary science, Animal Science, Biology, or a related field; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant research experience
  • Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, diseases, and treatments.
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software for data analysis.
